Our Gallery Attendants are the face of the Red House, and ensure that our visitors have a great experience with us! If you're an artist and you want to meet and better understand LOTS of current and prospective art buyers, this is a great way to do it!
Members are required to work during each exhibition in which they have entered artwork. This is normally scheduled during the Exhibition Registration process. If you did not schedule all of your shifts at that time, you can do it here. Our Resident Artists may also use this tool to schedule their monthly shifts.
There are three separate calendars below for scheduling: Attendant, Docent and Trainer. Each shift must have one Attendant, who is the person responsible for opening/closing the Gallery and processing sales. Docents assist the Attendant during busy periods, and otherwise are available to talk about art with our guests, and perhaps take them to view the studios if they're interested. The Trainer calendar should only be used by Red House designated Trainers to get matched up to new Attendants who require training.
You can cancel or reschedule a shift one week or more in the future by clicking the link in your appointment confirmation or reminder email. In the case of emergency or illness, you can cancel by contacting our Volunteer Coordinator at the number shown below. You may then schedule a new shift here, if appropriate.
Please note that all shifts are 3.5 hours. On days when the gallery is open 10AM-5PM, shifts are 10:00AM-1:30PM and 1:30PM-5:00PM. On Sundays when the gallery is open 12:30PM-4:00PM, a single shift runs from open to close.
If you've already been trained in in our new facility as a Red House Gallery Attendant, and you'd like to volunteer for additional shifts, you can view the calendar and sign up here! If you're new to this, please contact us first and we'll arrange a time for you to be trained. We absolutely want and need your help! But please do not schedule Attendant shifts using this tool before you have arranged for training!
