January – March 2025 – Harmony and Unity

Living in “Harmony and Unity” is essential to our future; one people, one voice, one spirit.  We are honored to be partnering once again with the Swannanoa Valley Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Memorial Corp. Scholarship Fund.  For this exhibition, harmony is a balance of similar elements – colors, shapes, lines, texture, and direction.  Unity is when elements (size, shape, line, direction, color, value, and texture) appear in one area of the painting and are echoed in another.  We welcome and encourage thought provoking entries in all medium.

March – May 2025 – Essence of Space

"Essence of Space" is an art exhibition that invites artists to explore and depict how art creates sentient spaces, transforming the environment into reflective and immersive experiences. This exhibition aims to delve into the role of space in developing a sense of depth and three-dimensionality, encouraging viewers to reflect on atmosphere, concepts, and spirit. Artists are challenged to consider the interplay between physical and emotional dimensions within their works, creating environments that evoke introspection and a deeper understanding of the spaces we inhabit, both internally and externally. We are inviting Black Mountain Primary and Homeschool students to participate providing a space for them to showcase their artwork. This opportunity is open to young artists who are eager to share their creativity and talent with the community. This initiative aims to celebrate diverse artistic voices, encourage creativity, and foster a sense of connection within our community. All mediums are welcome!

Curators: Kristin Williams and Amber Ratliff

May – July 2025 – Angles and Curves

"Angles and Curves" invites artists to explore the interplay between angular forms and curved lines, showcasing how these contrasting elements coexist in both art and nature. We encourage artists to submit works that highlight the beauty and complexity found in the interaction of sharp, defined edges and smooth, flowing shapes. Whether through painting, sculpture, photography, or mixed media, your artwork should reflect the contrasts and balance that angles and curves bring to artistic expression.  All mediums are welcome.

Curators – TBD

September – November 2025 – Perpetual Motion

This exhibition seeks to capture the beauty and complexity of movement and aims to highlight the kinetic energy that drives our world, whether it’s the rhythmic flow of nature, the ceaseless activity of human life, or the mechanical precision of modern technology. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly, using their unique perspectives to depict how motion influences our perception and experience. Join us in this vibrant celebration of everything in motion, where each work will inspire viewers to feel the rhythm and flow that connects us all.  This exhibition also celebrates our new members.  All mediums are welcome.

Curators - TBD

November 2025 – January 2026 – Self-Reflection

This exhibition challenges each artist - as the year comes to end and is reborn anew - to create pieces with a theme of introspection, self-discovery, and/or renewal. Artwork may showcase interpretations of the winter and the holiday season’s quietude, joy, and reflection.  All mediums are welcome.

Curators - TBD
